My beautiful wife, Amanda, and I, along with our gentle 15-year-old Labrador, Madden.
I lived my younger years in the small fishing town of Stromness on the Mainland of Orkney, where my Grandfather's family were from, my Norse surname originates, and my love of taking pictures began.
Now based in the Highlands of Scotland, my photography is constantly evolving, and I'm always learning, and I suspect I always will be.
By browsing my various collections, you'll view photographs taken over 22 years. During that time span, with age and experience, my photography vision, interests & style have naturally developed & changed.
My photographs are created using various camera and lens brands. I do appreciate a top-quality, modern-day lens and all the magical tools in today's intelligent cameras. Still, my real love is producing my wall art using older/vintage cameras & lenses, as well as film, double/multiple/long exposures, alternative angles/perspectives/composition, home-produced textures, multi-lens images, intentional camera movement, out-of-focus and shallow depth of field. I don't use AI to create images, and all photographs are my own.
Here are a few quotes that have inspired me over the years, with a couple from my favourite photographers.

“Actually, it's nature itself that creates the most beautiful pictures; I'm only choosing the perspective.” ~ Katja Michael
“Sharpness is a bourgeois concept” ~ Henri Cartier-Bresson
“Art is what we call...the thing an artist does.
It's not the medium or the oil or the price or whether it hangs on a wall or you eat it.
What matters, what makes it art, is that the person who made it overcame the resistance, ignored the voice of doubt and made something worth making. Something risky. Something human. Art is not in the...eye of the beholder. It's in the soul of the artist.” ~ Seth Godin

“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” ~ Ansel Adams
“There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.” ~ Ansel Adams
